In 1967, on the way to the wedding of a friend a young man is accosted by a local gang member. Later, the three friends administer justice, in the process of which the gang member is killed, so they leave Hong Kong to avoid the police and the gang. They run black market supplies to Saigon and get embroiled in the war, being arrested as Viet Cong, then later captured by the Viet Cong, and find that their friendship is tested to the limits as they try to escape.

Tycker inte denna var så himla bra som jag har börjat förväntat mig när jag ser en John Woo film. Kändes lite som en asiatisk The Deer Hunter, men det kanske det ska vara? Tycker för det första att filmen är på tok för lång. Stora delar av filmen kunde tyvärr klippas bort. De delar för inte filmen framåt. Sedan tog det mig tyvärr större delen av filmen att kunna skilja de tre huvudrollsinnehavarna från varandra. Men det är ju inte filmens fel, utan min egen. Känslan som jag har efter filmen är att den är lite dåligt genomförd. Att den kunde blivit bättre. En svag trea blir det.

Christopher Nolan har gjort det igen. Insomnia och Batman Begins var kanske inte de bästa av filmer. Även om jag tyckte Batman Begins var riktigt underhållande. Jag har länge hållt Memento som Nolans bästa film. Men nu är jag mera osäker. The Prestige är en underbar film. Härligt foto, bra skådisar och en klippning som inte följer tidslinjen. Filmen är riktigt mystiskt. Dock inte tillräckligt då jag listat ut filmens största hemlighet efter endast halva filmen, så slutet överaskade mig inte så jättemycket som man skulle viljat. Men den är fortfarande värd en fyra. Se den!

In South Boston, the state police force is waging war on Irish-American organized crime. But is either willing to turn on the friends and comrades they’ve made during their long stints undercover

Jag har sett Infernal Affairs, men tänkte inte alls så mycket på den filmen då jag såg denna. Visst är dom lika. Men tycker ändå att dom är ganska olika. Karaktären som spelar “Bad Cop” har en mycket större svårighet att egentligen välja sida. I denna är det mera själva berättelsen som står i centrum. Vi får hålla tummarna att Scorsese äntligen får en Oscar för denna, även om han gjort bättre filmer, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear , Goodfellas, bara för att nämna några. Låter kanske lite fel, men det är hans tur nu 😀
Filmen får en svag fyra.

This is a complex tale of four interlocking stories. A poor Morrocan family acquires a rifle to protect their goats. An American couple’s bus tour holiday is shattered when she is accidentally shot. That couple’s children, at home in the USA with their nanny/housekeeper, accompany her to Mexico to attend her son’s wedding. A Japanese father, whose wife has committed suicide some time ago, is unable to communicate with his teenage daughter. A tragic tale for all concerned.

Jag var faktiskt på väg att ge denna filmen en trea. Men jag har nu haft lite tid att fundera lite mera kring den och tycker då faktiskt att den är nog värd en svag fyra. Det som fick mig att ändra mig är Brad Pitt‘s och Rinko Kikuchi‘s skådespelarinsatser. Det gör ont bara jag tänker på scenen när Brad pratar med sin son i sjukhustelefonen. Mycket bra. Nu måste jag se Iñárritu‘s andra filmer.

Detta var en intressant film. Man får en ny insikt kring hur den kungliga familjen i storbritaninen tog prinsessan Dianas död. Jättebra skådespeleri. Vore mycket roligt om Helen Mirren får en Oscar för denna rollprestation, för den är utomordentlig.
